How long should we allocate for the on-location photos?
It’s up to you really. If these are the most important photos to you, I’d suggest 2-3 hours, depending on how much driving is involved between locations. If you’d rather spend more time with your guests and prefer lots of candid photos, that’s fine too. In that case, maybe allow up to an hour for on-location photos.
We don’t want photos of us getting ready. Is that OK?
Sure. I’m happy to cover your whole day if you want, but if there’s part of the day you don’t want me for, that’s completely fine.
Is there an ideal time of day for photos?
Yes, around sunset is the best time for getting spectacular lighting. Unfortunately this often coincides with when the meal is being served or the speeches are happening. Many venues around Dunedin have great options for popping outside quickly when the light is good, however, so keep this in mind when choosing a venue.
What do we do if it’s raining on the day?
Surprisingly, I’ve had very few weddings in Dunedin that have been affected by rain, and in most cases it’s just light drizzle or occasional showers. Make sure you have some nice umbrellas handy and have a think about some places that are sheltered from the weather. There are some great buildings in town and around the industrial area that make for good photos in the wet.
Do you travel to other places to photograph weddings?
Yes, I love to get out of town and take photos in different places, and I’ll happily travel to wherever in the world you’re getting married.
We’re not very comfortable getting our photo taken.
I can relate – I’m equally uncomfortable in front of a camera! Most couples are initially a bit shy too, but usually relax as they day goes on. When I take photos of you getting ready you’ll find that you’ll get used to me and my camera being around, so when it comes to those more ‘posed’ photos, with any luck you’ll be more relaxed.
What do you do if you get sick on the day?
It would take a very nasty illness or injury to stop me being your photographer on the day, and in that case I’d do my best to find a suitable replacement. Anything less and I’ll just box on! I only get sick once or twice a year, so it’s very unlikely indeed.
How long after our wedding will we receive our photos?
You’ll get all your photos within a few weeks of your wedding, and usually within two weeks.
We’re keen to book you. What next?
Great! To confirm your booking, I ask for a $250 deposit and have a simple contract for us all to sign. Email me back and I’ll send that through.
